The TCU Place Board of Directors are thrilled to announce the appointment of Tammy Sweeney to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective immediately.

Tammy joined TCU Place in July 2020 as Chief Operating Officer and quickly solidified herself as TCU Place’s leader during the unprecedented and challenging period, navigating COVID-19. Since commencing, some of Tammy’s accomplishments include leading the certification of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR accreditation, the Social Distancing Concert Series, and the 2021 strategic planning process, where the TCU Place team produced an energizing strategic direction.

There is much excitement for TCU Place in the short-term, including re-opening, the launch and implementation of TCU Place’s new strategic plan, and the continuing advancement of the Downtown Entertainment District project, a key element in the strategic plan.

The Board of Directors congratulates Tammy on her appointment as CEO and is excited for the future of TCU Place, emerging from the pandemic stronger than ever before.

It’s an exciting and challenging time to lead the organization, and Tammy’s leadership in the industry both strategically and operationally will help her to rally with the TCU Place team to bring a variety of events to life. She is excited to both leverage and build on 52 years of incredible history and forge forward to keep TCU Place at the centre of the community’s most memorable moments and events.

Tammy moved to Saskatoon from Medicine Hat, AB, and Niagara Falls ON prior to that – with both stops involving senior leadership roles at public venues. Tammy is an avid community leader, championing local events and volunteering on not-for-profit boards. She understands and welcomes the role that live events play in developing and shaping a community.  She’s passionate about building an engaged team to achieve success.

Tammy had this to say about her role at TCU Place:

“I am honoured, humbled and excited to be working with the incredible team at TCU Place as we continue to bring magical events to life. I start most mornings walking across the Sid Buckwold Theatre stage and pay homage to the amazing talent that has been in that theatre and the people that have brought it to life. Conferences, meetings, shows…any time we can bring people together to share that experience, we’ve made the world a better place. I’m happy to be leading the team bringing these events to life.”
