So What’s The Big Deal Anyway
Last night I found out that TCU Place has been recognized as a finalist in two categories for the NSBA Business Builder Awards – Pursuit of Excellence (for the 3rd year running), and Employee Training and Development.
Our team has worked extremely hard these past few years to build a culture of excellence internally and with our clients. We have looked at our industry through new eyes, introduced premium experiences, and looked for ways to be innovative in how we deliver service to our guests.
Our world was turned upside down a few years back, and our sales team essentially started again at zero. And we are BACK.
We’ve upgraded the look, feel and brand of our building – on a dime! We’ve introduced learning and development into our budget – again going from zero to 2% of our payroll devoted to learning. We’ve included our partners in learning, looked for experiential learning where we can, together in house and with external facilitators. It’s been a wild ride.
Each year, TCU Place brings over $40 Million in Economic Impact to Saskatoon. That means that through the work that we do, we make our restaurants, hotels, and retail spaces more vibrant. We provide work for local trades, or a second job for people looking for help to make ends meet. We host over 300 events per year for our community – from music to comedy, drag shows, conferences, trade shows, and personal celebrations. We’ve experimented with new events – some have been extremely successful, and others have limped along as we adapted to our new world. But we keep going. And we continue to look for ways to thrive and serve our community.
I could not be more proud of our team. We are being recognized alongside some incredible companies in Saskatoon (https://nsbasask.com/signature-event/business-builder-awards/). Whether we win or not – I can say to my team that the city is noticing the work that we are doing, and that it matters.
So, thank you team. And thank you NSBA, for giving us the chance to boast just a little bit about the amazing things we are doing to make life in Saskatoon better for all of us.
