TCU Place is part of a dynamic industry, and is a strong, community-based organization. The organization is in the midst of many changes due to pandemic recovery as well as systems changes and is in need of some temporary assistance.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this controller plays a vital role in the entity’s financial operations and will be responsible for month end close, reporting, development of accounting processes and work instructions and fulfilling ad hoc requests as required.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Open until position is filled.

6-month Contract (with renewal options) starting January 2022 at TCU Place


  1. Month-end close: Working with the accounting and box office team, the controller will be responsible for the completion of full cycle account accounting tasks, working papers, reconciliations and the timely and accurate completion of month end close.
  2. Reporting: The controller is responsible for producing monthly departmental and the monthly financial statements including identifying budget variances for review by senior leadership.
  3. Month End processes: In conjunction with the Director of Finance, this position will be responsible for creating month end processes and work instructions for the accounting department.
  4. SAP Payroll Processing: Reconciles & checks payroll output to ensure all changes and information are processed in SAP. Reconciles payroll accounts monthly. Ensures all hours worked are processed accurately, following guidelines of multiple collective agreements. Process additional pay and/or retroactive pay due to salary changes. Assists with the payroll import, vacation/sick adjustments, and allocation of payroll to events.
  5. Team & People Leadership: The role will mentor and train team members to ensure effective operations and customer service. Develops team members for growth and succession. This position will ensure pertinent information is communicated to team members which will affect them, their work or the work environment, in a timely relevant manner.


  • Successful candidates will have their Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Finance or Accounting.
  • You will have 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting with month-end, reporting and audit.
  • Experience in leading a team would be considered an asset.
  • Candidates must have their Chartered Professional Accountant Certification (CPA), A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
