SASKATOON, April 30, 2026 – TCU Place is proud to announce that CEO Tammy Sweeney has been named Chair of Region 4 of the International Association of Venue Managers, a global organization representing public assembly venues across more than 15 countries.
Sweeney’s appointment marks a significant milestone not only for Saskatoon, but for the broader Canadian meetings and events industry. In her role as Chair, she will help guide the strategic direction of IAVM while representing the interests of venues that serve as economic and cultural hubs in their communities. Sweeney is also Chair of the Convention Centres of Canada Association. At a time when cities are increasingly investing in experiences, tourism, and vibrant downtowns, venues like TCU Place play a critical role in bringing people together and driving local economic impact.
With nearly six decades of history, TCU Place is a cornerstone of Saskatoon’s downtown, hosting hundreds of events annually and contributing to the city’s cultural and economic vitality through conferences, performances, and community gatherings. In recent years, the organization has seen significant growth, including a tripling of its theatre business, as it continues to expand its role as a presenter and community partner. Sweeney’s leadership on the international stage reflects both her personal commitment to the industry and the strength of the organization she leads at home.
“Venues are where communities come together to connect, to celebrate, to learn,” said Sweeney. “As our industry continues to evolve, there’s an opportunity to think bigger about the role we play in shaping cities and creating meaningful experiences. I’m proud to represent Saskatoon as part of that global conversation.”
As TCU Place continues to grow its role as a destination for conferences, performances, and community events, Sweeney’s appointment reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to leadership, innovation, and the future of gathering.
