This year housed many colourful events, wild parties, delicious food, Broadway shows, and so much more! With our hearts full, we hope that the magic of this season has brought warmth to you and yours. What would be the best way to wrap up the year? Let’s take a peek at what TCU Place has done this year!

Canada’s Drag Race

We made sure to kick 2022 off with a bang by hosting Canada’s Drag Race Season 2 Tour. Canada’s Drag Race is a spinoff of RuPaul’s Drag Race, a reality competition show that pits drag queens against each other in competitions of fashion, skills, and performances. As a result of the franchise’s success, it was expanded into the UK, Australia, and Canada.

Canada’s Drag Race has its own Toronto-based queen to take the helm, unlike other countries where RuPaul continues to serve as the host and mentor. The tour was hosted by Brooke Lynn Hytes, our very own Queen of the North! Keep a look out for their next tour, as local Queen Chelazon Leroux is sure to impress!

Romeo & Juliet

February was the month of love, and we did our part to spread the love. Shakespeare’s story of love, suffering, and retribution is expertly reimagined in Bengt Jörgen’s fantastical ballet universe. Jörgen focused on constructing a clear and emotionally stirring journey into this time-honored classic while staying true to the original story. Many artists have been inspired by Romeo & Juliet, and Bengt Jörgen used the play as inspiration for his warm and intimate works.

Silver Spoon Dinner

Despite having to postpone this incredible event, 2022 finally let us put on our 30th Annual Silver Spoon Dinner! And we were even more delighted to announce that Serena Ryder was the entertainment! The Silver Spoon Dinner is still Saskatoon’s top ladies’ night out, offering a luxurious and entertaining evening.

This year, ladies were treated to a gala evening sponsored by Saskatoon CHW (Hadassah-WIZO) and Congregation Agudas Israel as a fundraiser for the two sponsoring organizations as well as Saskatoon Interval House and Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan. Participants were pampered, wined and dined, and entertained in elegant style.

Unite for Ukraine

When faced with the crisis in the Ukraine, we did the most Canadian thing possible: raise funds to send to those needing our help! In May, we hosted a Unite for Ukraine luncheon. The tragedy unfolding in Ukraine has touched hearts around the world, and the people of Saskatoon have a unique connection. In 1991, Saskatoon and Chernivtsi became “sister cities” because our two communities share much in common, including cultural ties. The two cities have about the same population size. They are both bustling hubs for education, the arts, culture, and commerce.

Coffee Conspiracy

In September, we were proud to announce the opening of Coffee Conspiracy! Together with Local Road Coffee Co., we made sure that you would always get a delicious cup of coffee. Of course, if baking was your thing, we made sure to include that too! Whether you are looking for that first cup of the day or a quick bite at lunch, we are sure The Coffee Conspiracy will make your taste buds dance.

Come From Away

October was truly the kick-off for the magical 4th quarter of busy event activity, and the highlight was definitely 8 full-audience showings of Come From Away. It was the perfect show to help people connect through music, laughter, and the joy of being Canadian. People left the theatre singing and with a spring in their step—and many even came back for a second showing! We generated over $1 million in economic impact for Saskatoon and the surrounding area, which was a great boost to our local businesses, hotels, and restaurants.
